What's new: EU de minimis product identifiers for nine carriers, plus FedEx Freight LTL and updates for GTMS, Pitney Bowes, Purolator International, and UPS

Also in this release: Automated tracking for more carriers, business-day delivery estimates, a Public API quota page, and a 12-character minimum for new passwords

Action required: Yes, by Nov 1, 2026: merchants shipping to the EU need to add a Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) to every product they ship there.

‍

Highlights

‍‍EU de minimis compliance: Starting November 1, 2026, carriers expect three product identifiers on each line item of an EU-bound shipment: a merchant product ID, a manufacturer product ID, and a standardized product ID. Labels missing them can be rejected. ShipWise now sends those identifiers straight from your product records, so keeping those records complete is the one thing to do before November 1.

‍

Action required by Nov 1: make sure each EU product has a Manufacturer Part Number. If your store already sends one, ShipWise uses it automatically and you don't need to do anything. You'll see it in the Mfg Part Number column on the “Products” page. To add a missing one in the ShipWise Web App, edit the product under the “Products” page and fill in the "Manufacturer Part No (NS-PID)" field. The field is available once this release goes live on October 15. You can also send it from your order management system (check with your OMS for where it goes in the item data) or through the Public API, using the nsPid field when you create a product or on order line items. A UPC is only needed if the product has one. It comes in from your store and can't be edited in ShipWise. Bulk updates by CSV aren't supported yet.

Carriers

FedEx‍

  • FedEx Freight LTL: now available with FedEx Freight Priority and Economy. Rate, generate the BOL and labels, and schedule pickups from the new End-of-Day Freight Pickups tab, in the same workflow as your parcel shipments. To turn it on, enable the FedEx Freight section of your existing FedEx account and add your FedEx Freight account number. Your FedEx parcel account needs to be registered with the FedEx API.
  • Every scan, start to finish. Enhanced tracking webhooks now show each package’s complete scan history, and later updates no longer overwrite earlier events. Support teams can answer “where’s my order?” with the full picture, and ops teams can see exactly where a delay started.
  • Five more non-standard packaging types for FedEx Express, Ground, Home Delivery, and International Ground: Can, Tote, Crate, Wood Box, and Metal Box. The non-standard container surcharge is applied the same way at rating and shipping, so the rate you see is the rate you're charged.

GTMS‍

  • Set default packaging types for GTMS freight services, including pallet as a custom packaging type, so freight orders start with the right packaging.
  • Surcharges for special services now display as line items, so you can see what each accessorial adds to the freight charge.

Pitney Bowes‍

  • Tracking webhooks are now supported, so status updates reach you as they happen instead of on the next polling cycle.

Purolator International‍

  • Canadian origins and Canadian domestic services are now supported, so you can ship from and within Canada, not only northbound from the US.

UPS‍

  • Non-resident importer (NRI) support for US to Canada shipments. Brokers can be assigned to a specific carrier, and the broker's details print on the commercial invoice, so cross-border paperwork matches the broker you actually use.

‍

Additional fixes and features‍

  • Automated tracking for more carriers: GTMS, UniUni, and UPS Mail Innovations packages are now included in automated tracking updates, so customer service sees current status without checking the carrier site.
  • Delivery estimates in business days: AI-powered estimated delivery days can be shown in business days, set as a profile default or by service group, so the promise you show matches how your carriers deliver.
  • Public API quota page: see your current Public API quota and let authorized users request an adjustment, without opening a ticket.
  • 12-character minimum for new passwords: applies when you sign up, change your password, or reset a forgotten one. Existing passwords keep working, and nobody is forced to reset.
