v10.4.0.9 continues work from the last two releases. Advanced markups, introduced on their own page in 10.4.0.8, received another round of updates. Freight handling, which has been built out incrementally over several releases, is the largest area of change in this push. Carrier updates and Public API additions round out the release.

Changes apply automatically at deployment, and no configuration is required unless noted in a section below.

Highlights

Price, Rate, and Ship LTL Freight in the Web App: For your own fleet or any LTL carrier without a prebuilt integration, you can now upload your rates and process freight shipments through the Web App in the same flow as parcel. PRO and BOL numbers are generated automatically, package status can be set at creation and updated to Delivered when the carrier confirms, and carrier accounts can be assigned to specific profiles.

  • Freight orders stay in the same queue as parcel instead of being worked in a second system
  • Setting your own pricing means contracted and customer-arranged freight rates are reflected at rate time rather than reconciled afterward
  • PRO and BOL numbers are attached at creation, which removes a manual entry step that is expensive to correct after a shipment moves
  • Freight runs through Generic LTL, GTMS, or direct freight carrier integration, covering both in-house freight and LTL carriers without a prebuilt integration.

Freight Class Set by Density: Freight class handling has been standardized across the freight flow. Class is tied to density in pounds per cubic foot, and precedence rules determine which class applies when it has been set in more than one place.

  • Class is the single largest driver of an LTL invoice, and a wrong class is what produces reclassification charges weeks after the shipment moved
  • Density-based classing means the class on the BOL reflects what is actually in the shipment rather than a default somebody set once and never revisited
  • Precedence rules mean a class set on the product and a class set on the order resolve predictably instead of depending on which screen it was entered from

New Carrier: Purolator International for US to Canada Parcel: Purolator International is now available in ShipWise for parcel shipments originating in the United States and delivering into Canada.

  • Northbound parcel. United States origin, Canada destination. Freight is not supported at this time.
  • Customs handling. PASS and PARS handling is supported for B2B shipments, so customs documentation travels with the shipment.
  • Dangerous goods. Shipments containing limited quantity and fully regulated dangerous goods can be processed through the standard flow.
  • Ship from address and reference field handling has been updated for the carrier.

Purolator International requires an account with the carrier. Contact your Account Manager to enable it.

Carrier Enhancements

  • GLS, weight limits: The maximum allowed package weight is now 2400 oz, which is 150 lb, across all GLS services.
  • GOFO, rating and tracking: Rating now uses 1-oz tiered weight breaks for packages under 1 lb and supports dimensional weight, which means light packages rate at the tier they actually fall into. GOFO packages are now included in nightly tracking status updates.
  • OnTrac, new service: OnTrac Express (O12) is now supported. The service is offered by OnTrac under contract and is available to approved accounts on OnTrac v3. If you are interested in adding it, talk to your OnTrac representative or your ShipWise Account Manager.
  • OSM, service updates: Ground Advantage services T01 and T44 now support custom packaging and overlength fees, the minimum and maximum dimension restrictions have been removed, and a length plus girth limit can be set.
  • UPS, Direct Delivery Only: Direct Delivery Only (DDO) is now supported as a Special Service, so shipments that must be handed to the recipient can be flagged at ship time.
  • UPS Mail Innovations, dimensional weight: A dimensional divisor setting has been added, and rating now compares dimensional weight against actual weight for packages over 1 cubic foot.

Additional Fixes and Features

Advanced Shipping Cost Markups Enhancements: Additional updates to advanced markups on shipping profiles, building on the dedicated Markups page introduced in v10.4.0.8.

  • Markup rules stay managed in one place as the rule set grows
  • A pricing change made once applies everywhere the group is attached

Webhook Setup Moves to One Page: Carrier webhook setup has moved onto the ShipWise webhooks page, alongside the tracking webhooks introduced in the last release. Tracking notification event handling has also been hardened, and authenticated delivery and tracking update handling for FedEx webhooks has been restored.

  • Carrier webhooks and ShipWise webhooks are configured in the same place instead of per carrier
  • Event handling is more resilient, so a malformed or delayed event does not stop the rest from processing

Alphabetized profile dropdown: The profile list on the create manual order modal is now in alphabetical order, which saves hunting through an unordered list on accounts running dozens of profiles.

Faster pages with large lists: Performance improvements for Portal pages rendering long lists, so high-volume accounts spend less time waiting on a grid to load.
